Tarsis Resources Ltd. has announced that it has commenced an exploration program which includes diamond drilling at its Erika project on the Guerrero-Morelos Platform.
A diamond drilling contract for 2,000 meters has been awarded to Landdrill International and drilling is expected to begin within one week. The planned drilling will test for precious metals within a low-sulphidation epithermal environment. In addition to the diamond drilling, Tarsis plans to prospect and collect stream sediment samples from previously under-explored parts of the 16,000 hectare property. Collection of stream sediment samples is a cost effective way of identifying anomalous zones of mineralization for later follow up work. The diamond drilling program is targeting geochemical soil anomalies believed to be part of a large epithermal system present on the property.
The Erika project boundaries the eastern portion of Newstrike Capital’s Aurea Norte Property. Newstrike holds the largest and most strategic mineral claims in the Guerrero Gold Belt (“GBB”). The GGB ’s gold bearing iron skarn-porphyry mineralizing system is host to one of Mexico’s most established gold mining districts.
To date, the GGB has over 15 million NI43-101 ounces of gold in all categories, including Goldcorp’s 300,000 ounces per year Los Filos deposit and Torex Resources’ Morelos Project, a high grade 3.2 M oz au deposit. Newstrike’s management team was responsible for the discovery of over eight million of these gold ounces.
